Looking to get married in the summer of 2024, Kateryna & Paul contacted me on a cold, drizzly day the winter prior, inviting me to plan their wedding & reception- what a joy it was to have the opportunity to think about warm summer days!!!
They were clear on wanting a traditional English wedding in the Essex countryside- the perfect location for both family from Norfolk, friends from London and relations travelling from Ukraine.
They also chose a celebrant-led ceremony, giving them the opportunity to incorporate some Ukrainian marriage traditions into the ceremony. After meeting, Kateryna & Paul quickly decided that Ruth was the Celebrant for them- understanding the type of ceremony that they were looking for and embracing the multi-national nature of the wedding. It was Ruth’s fantastic idea to include the Rushnyk ceremony, a tradition in Ukrainian weddings, involving the couple jumping onto a decorated cloth, that’s been handed down through generations. Whoever steps onto it first is to “wear the trousers” in the household!... can you guess who got there first?!
After exploring a handful of the gorgeous venues that Essex has to offer, they fell in love with Mulberry House on their first visit, with it’s fantastic combination of country estate, beautiful gardens, onsite accommodation (particularly useful for travelling family & friends) and convenient transport links. Making the most of the summer season, Kateryna & Paul, also chose an outdoor ceremony to enjoy the beauty of the Essex countryside- Mulberry House ticked all the boxes!
Guests were invited to the special event through modern and stylish digital invitations and a complimentary wedding website, keeping communication with family and friends both oversees and at home, simple and straightforward. The purple and blush pink accents, beautifully complimented the colour scheme and styling of the day. Lauren at 33 Pixels was able to carry the style of the digital invitations though to the on the day stationery, creating a wonderfully cohesive design for the entire wedding.
The stunning floral displays, created by Jas from Fool Flowers, adorned the gazebo and ceremony seating, running through to the reception space and marquee. The colour palette was created through a combination of both Kateryna & Paul’s favourite colours, blush tones, combined with a splash of purple (Paul) and a pop of magenta (Kateryna). Jas was able to expertly combine these colours to create a beautiful combination of flowers for the floral displays, whilst complimenting the colours of the day. The hand tied bouquets echoed the floral arrangements and were created with preserved flowers, allowing the stunning bouquets to be enjoyed for months to come.
Kateryna and her bridesmaids experienced a relaxing morning in the Alderney Suite, sipping bubbles as Carlie pampered the ladies with beautiful make-up and hair styling for the day. They were later joined by Kateryna’s family to make the wedding morning a wonderful, family centred experience. The gents were bestowed their own suite for the wedding preparations, whilst they enjoyed a few beers whilst getting ready.
The heavens unpredictably opened, just as Kateryna was to emerge from the house for the ceremony, however with a few last-minute adjustments, we arranged for Kateryna & Paul to instead enjoy a beautiful, intimate ceremony, surrounded by their closest family and friends inside the gorgeous gazebo. This created such a personal and meaningful moment, having their nearest and dearest literally surrounding them as they said their “I Do’s”. It was a magical ceremony, not to be forgotten.
After a delicious 4-course feast in the marquee, and a brief intermission for Kateryna’s dress change, the happy couple cut the eagerly awaited cake. The bespoke design and flavour combination was eagerly anticipated by both Kateryna & Paul. Heather from The Cake creative didn’t disappoint! The cake itself was visually spectacular and exactly as designed, whilst the flavours were simply divine!
Kateryna & Paul danced the night away on a starlit dancefloor to their favourite tunes- Scott & Dave from Aurora Pearl keeping their guests on the floor all evening! A further tantalising treat was available from the food shack as they served the most amazing smoked beef brisket… simply delicious!
It’s been a great pleasure working with such a fantastic team to bring this wedding to life. Working not only with the amazing events team at Mulberry House to ensure the day ran seamlessly, as well as all of the suppliers that made this day perfect for Kateryna & Paul.
It has been my absolute honour to support Kateryna & Paul during their wedding planning journey. I cannot thank them enough for inviting me to be part of their wedding planning journey and trusting in me to create their vision of the day. I wish them a lifetime of happiness and prosperity.
